hoping and waiting

Hell of a roller coaster ride, isn't it? Right now I feel like I'm stuck upside down on a loop, waiting for the rescue crew to arrive and get me off this thing. Never have I gone through so many ups and downs in a single evening about a freaking TV show. My God, the drama. The tension. It's unbelievable.

As of the middle of the night, here's where we stood: There was no official word from Fox and the producers of The Sarah Connor Chronicles had received no information.

The Hollywood Reporter's updated copy of Fox's (tentative? leaked?) fall schedule showed the TSCC slot still open. I think Fox is playing chicken with WB for a bigger discount on the show and negotiations are running into the last possible minute. I think that's why the first version of the Fox schedule had no TSCC and the second version had the open slot. That means we're probably still in contention for Fridays at 8pm. And Dollhouse did much better with the Sarah Connor lead-in.

A rare bright spot in all this: Skynext Podcast guys said they got an unconfirmed report from their Fox "insider" that Sarah Connor is getting renewed for 13 eps. I don't honestly give that much weight, but at least it's something.

Ausiello, who seems to have started the cancellation frenzy has been wrong every time about TSCC. What that tells me is his unnamed source is tossing a coin and has as much chance at being right as me. And I say it's getting renewed. We'll see who has more cred when Fox announces.

I hope when I hop online later there's good news awaiting. But I love you all regardless and I wouldn't trade the friendships I've made because of Sarah Connor for anything. Actually, that's a total lie. I'd sell you all out in a second for another season :P

No fate.

*LOL* So glad I slept through all the Twittering stress last night, my nerves can only take so much. Fingers are tightly crossed, ladders are not being walked under, magpies are being saluted, spilled salt's gone over my shoulder, and I promise faithfully not to giggle at any more patients with man-flu for a whole month (c'mon now, I've got to keep this realistic!)

Please don't kill our show, Fox...

I feel so frakking impotent here. I've sent 3 emails in the last 2 days (not to mention the emails and letters I sent before) and I made sure they knew that I'm not Nielsen and that I've put my money where my mouth is by buying the DVDs, but... but....

They HAVE to renew! They just have to. *stomps tiny, impotent foot*

So we're still in limbo, then? Last night you seemed certain that all hope was lost, so this is an improvement.

It seems strange that Dollhouse would get renewed and TSCC wouldn't, since I'm not aware of any notable differences in either ratings or cost between the two. But if it's like you say and they're trying to hold out for a better deal from the production company... well, that's how Farscape got killed.

Dollhouse's 13th episode was produced with a skeleton budget. Joss relied heavily on that for his pitch for Season 2 - demonstrating he could produce the show for much less. A deal was worked out in which Fox shoulders a lower percentage of the cost.

By now multiple sources are all confirming Terminator's gone and Human Target is in it's place. Some go so far as to claim WB has dropped it as well. I'm not sure if I buy that, but at this point I think it's healthier to stop hanging out to every shred of hope.

My question for you guys (I do not intend this as flame bait at all, it's an honest question) is this: judging from various comments across the board, it's pretty obvious by this point that what really sealed the deal on the show was the middle Sarah arc, which disappointed most of the target demographic at a time when they really needed to be revitalized.

If hypothetically, you had a choice to get 9 more episodes of average level Sarah-centric-ness, at the cost of the middle Sarah Arc getting replaced by something with lots of explosions and Summer Glau, would you do it? Would you answer change depending on how many more episodes could be guarranteed?
