Damn you, Kentucky
- Jul. 14th, 2012 at 12:14 AM
Whilst perusing my flist, I came across a link to this little travel-map thingy. So of course I had to do one.
I've been to 33 states (66% of the United States). I've traveled through all of these states by car, by the way. Not too bad, eh? But I obviously need to come up with a reason to hit Kentucky. I don't like that hole in the map staring back at me.

I've got 9 to go. 2 I'll check off in September and hopefully a few more next Summer. I've got one of the Dakotas that I've never been to that I likely never will. But then again, never say never I guess.

I'm not sure horse racing can lure me to Kentucky, but I'll find a reason to go there one of these days.
1 The McHague Mill in Levi Jackson State Park has the largest collection of old millstones and you can even buy fresh ground cornmeal.
2 Wigwam Village Inn at the Wigwam village, instead of staying in a motel room you can stay in a wigwam. The inn also has a gift shop that has a variety of memorabilia and Native American themed items.
3 The Schmidt Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia has a variety of memorabilia throughout the history of Coca-Cola.
4 Giant Tire Rim Woman, A 16 foot tall woman made out of tire rims what more can be said.
5 Vent Haven Museum, the world's only museum dedicated to the art of ventriloquism, both fun and creepy!
6 World’s Largest Baseball Bat, “swing” on by and also see the Louisville Slugger Museum.
7 Big Bone Lick State Park, just because of the name and because it sounds kinda dirty.
8 Little Green Men Festival in Kelly, which is something to do with an alien siting; I don’t get it either but when you are finished you can head to Covington and see the Futuro House which is shaped like a flying saucer and can hold up to eight people!
See what you have been missing! :)

I found out about this festival when I met Barry Grimes while paddling in Canada. I've only attended once, but it's a reason to visit Kentucky!
