The search is over for Valentine's day

The man and I don't do Valentine's day. I'm just not sentimental about that kind of stuff. I don't care about flowers or heart-shaped boxes of chocolates or touching greeting cards. But I do have a schmoopy relationship story to share and this seems like a good day for it.

Early in our years of dating, we were watching videos on MTV one night when the topic of couples having "a song" came up. We didn't have one and I thought we should. There was a problem, though; we didn't know how couples go about picking a song. Is it a song that's playing on the radio the first time you kiss or something? Are there even rules for how you pick your song? The man came up with a simple solution: the next video we saw would be our song, no matter what it was.

I suppose it could've been worse. At least we ended up with a ballad. And had a good laugh.

LOL! That's hilarious. Zippy and I don't have a song which is probably for the best considering I forget our anniversary every single year.

Very sweet story and song...
The woman and I went through a country music phase together... when we scored our wedding, we picked Kathy Mattea's cover of "Asking us to dance" as our theme.

Re: Very sweet story and song...
I'd definitely stick with Survivor if the other choice was a sappy country tune :P

I am a *sucker* for tight poetry set to a simple melody. Survivor qualifies.

I wonder if Lena can deliver a tune? I'm guessing not, or we would have heard her by now.

As much as I love the eighties if I was you I’d have called for a do-over.

But on the other hand you could have waited a couple of years and ended up with Rick Ashley and be forever remembered as the Rickrolling couple!

Rick Astley. LOL. There's no do-overs, though. That totally would've undercut the spirit of the next song is ours, no matter what plan!

Nice Taylor Swift moment ...

you're right it could be awhole lot worst.

Can I get a "I'll be your father figure" by George Michael.

"The final countdown" by Europe!

I was never a fan of Survivor, but yeah - so many worse songs we could've ended up with. I guess we got lucky to only get a bad rock ballad?
